Last Valentine’s Day, we were seeing crocuses blooming and bees buzzing around them. This year, we’re under a blanket of snow and the spring flowers are just beginning to peek out of the white drifts. It’s been a difficult winter, with snowstorm upon snowstorm bringing us and all of our outdoor work to a standstill. Maybe it’s Mother Nature’s way of telling us that it’s time to take a break…whether we like it or not. After the melt is over, the hard work will resume in earnest, and we’ll be thanking her for this time of respite and planning by the fire.
