The weather has made a 180 degree turn in the past couple of days, and for the first time in a long time, I’m able to dry the laundry outside. Although, the weather really shouldn’t necessarily be a determining factor. I remember my grandmother taking jeans off of the clothesline in northern Alberta, and they were frozen solid and stacked like pancakes.
The dryer is one of the top three energy monsters in an average home, and avoiding it if you can saves an unbelievable amount of energy. Apparently there are communities that do not allow drying on clotheslines, though. I find it crazy that people would find clothes gently billowing in the breeze offensive…but find strip mines, hydro dams and oil pipelines perfectly acceptable. If you live in one of those communities, why not lobby to have this kind of backward regulation overturned? After all, it’s 2017.
