If you’re a lover of flowers (and who isn’t, after all!), then you’ll want to take in the beautiful annual BLOOM exhibition, either in person at Vancouver’s Federation Gallery or online.
This is a juried annual exhibition, and I was fortunate to have one of my paintings selected to be featured in this show. Watch for A Dramatic Entrance, my dynamic and bold macro representation of the apple blossoms here at Skywater Farm, hanging among the other spectacular floral paintings in the coming weeks.
The Federation Gallery and the Vancouver Branch of the Sogetsu School of Japanese flower arranging exhibit together in an impressive exhibition of flower sculptures and traditional painting.
Artists from both disciplines partner together to celebrate the rejuvenating power of springtime, as we express gratitude and manifest optimism for the future.
Experience the power of this collaboration at the Federation Gallery, located at 1241 Cartwright
Street on the artist hub of Granville Island, from March 15th – 28th. Buddhist monks began to make flower offerings to their temples. Today, visitors can reflect on the ancient history of zen flower arranging while contemplating the arrival of better days.
“In the wake of COVID, 2021 is starting to feel hopeful,” explains Gallery Coordinator Helen Duckworth. “Spring is starting to grace us with her presence, so now is a great time for an exhibition that weds floral artwork with living floral installations by the talented students and Sensei of the Vancouver Branch of the Sogetsu school of Ikebana. Bloom will leave visitors feeling restored and rejuvenated.”
